My two cents

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis.

  • State of the Economy: a soap opera

The economy? What about it who gives a fuck. Oh you got cozy making 150k from the backseat of a phantom? I don’t blame you. Oh you’ve lost your job? Adapt, be like “The Dude” Lebowski if you have to, its not that bad.

All this talk about a poor economy should give you a slight kick, but by all means the subject is a dead horse and were not only beating it were tearing it to shreds. Maybe i am an optimist and maybe I’m a fool but ask yourself this, have you seen more and more homeless people begging for food outside your office? Probably not, there’s a few countries that have that problem and guess what? There is still more sick, unhappy prozac prescribed people in North America than most other places.

It’s our greed that makes us cool and causes our self destruction simultaneously. Oh the economy will collapse? What did we do before we invented the economy? What did people do while they were being bombed in WWI and II; they adapted. There’s a human good and its going to triumph, the globe has to learn to share. So next time you hear that guy talking about the economy and pulling at his collar say; “Who cares, things have a funny way of working out.” A change is coming for the better, its not the end of the world just an end to an old way of doing things. Those are my two cents.

  • Touchscreen etiquette: A 21st century phenomenon

Its 2011 and we as human beings have created, adapted evolved whatever the hell you wanna call into a social being brought on by our own creations for a basic need of staying in touch in an ever overpopulated yet more isolated world. ??? There is really no way around it. We obviously have our developed social attitudes and ways of dealing with people which we have developed in our rearing and teenage years, some from parents some from friends and some from media. Now we (depending on your generation of course) have developed a new form of social interaction only appropriate through a technological basis; most commonly the cell phone. Whether its a blackberry or an iphone you keep strapped to your leg you have developed a new 21st century exclusive form of social etiquette. Ever notice how a lol or a :) change the mood of your message? Well this is like body language to text messages. If i say fuck off in a jovial manner rather than a serious one in real life your going to interpret it and react in a different manner depending on my body language. Same goes for texting if you throw in a lol with the fuck off or before or after its very different than a plain old f off. This spans from flirting to arguing etc. A wink, an exclamation make all the difference in the world. While the technology information has grasped this like second nature the much older generations have no clue to this or that a form of etiquette exists. That’s just my two cents ;)
